New Porsche 911 GT3 RS Sets Nürburgring Lap Record

The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a tried-and-true racehorse. The track-designed model was meant to impress bystanders and set records, and it recently did both of those things at the legendary Nürburgring.

Driver Kevin Estre got behind the wheel of the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS and set a new track record, tackling “The Green Hell” in just 6:56.4 minutes, besting the time set by the previous GT3 RS by an unbelievable 24 second margin. That lap time makes the 2019 911 GT3 RS the third Porsche to ever run a lap at Nürburgring in under seven minutes.

“No other Porsche model gets as close to racing as the new GT3 RS. Many innovative ideas from top-level motorsport were transferred, for example, from the 911 GT3 R,” said Frank Steffen Walliser, Vice President Motorsport and GT Cars.

This sub-seven-minute lap time wasn’t just a fluke either. Estre completed four laps in under seven minutes with just tenths of a second between them. That consistency is a testament to the Porsche 911 GT3 RS’s performance and drivability.

The new track-ready model features a 520-horsepower naturally aspirated engine. It races from zero to 60 mph in just three seconds and boasts a top speed of 193 mph. While you likely won’t be able to test the 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS on a track as challenging as Nürburgring, you can still make it yours at Gossett VW Porsche.
