Free Activities in Memphis this Spring

Here at Gossett Volkswagen Porsche, we love being part of the Memphis community. And, we love all that this great city has to offer. For visitors to the city or even those of us who have lived here for years, you don’t have to spend a fortune to have fun in Memphis. Here are some free activities in Memphis you can do this spring.

While many of Memphis’ most popular attractions have an admission cost, a few of them offer free admission days and times. You just have to plan carefully and you can save big.

  • Graceland. Be an early bird and get free admission to the Meditation Garden at Graceland from 7:30-8:30am every day.
  • Memphis Zoo. One of the best zoos in the country is right here in Memphis. Every Tuesday from 2pm to close, explore the zoo and visit its more than 3,500 animals.
  • Mud Island Riverwalk. This experience is always free and spans five city blocks within the city. It is open Tuesday-Sunday, April-October, from 10am to 5pm.
  • Stax Museum of American Soul Museum. If you live in Shelby County, you can explore the sweet sounds of Memphis music on Tuesdays from 1-5pm.

Memphis November Events

November is nearly upon us, which means it’s time to start choosing what events you’ll attend before the holiday season truly begins. There are plenty of events taking place during the month of November here in Memphis which means it’s time to start planning! Here are some Memphis November events that you should check out as recommended by us here at Gossett VW Porsche.

  • Indie Memphis Film Festival – Take in a movie directed, produced, and performed by upcoming actors here in Memphis. In all, over 180 of the best independent films will appear on screen. Other events include filmmaker panels and live music. The Indie Memphis Film Festival runs from November 1st to the 7th so be sure to get your tickets today!
  • Memphis Comic and Fantasy Convention – There’s never been a better time to be a fantasy and comic fan! The Memphis Comic and Fantasy Convention takes place from November 18th through the 20th at the Hilton. Gaming, music, entertainment, and a gothic ball are just a few of the highlights to come.
  • Graceland Holiday Lighting Ceremony – Elvis Presley’s home will light up the sky on November 17th. This event features the lighting of traditional Christmas lights through Elvis’s Birthday Celebration next year. Santa will pay a visit and special guests will make an appearance as well. Stop by the Graceland Holiday Lighting Ceremony to take in the beautiful home.

ConcertMemphis is a city renowned for its music. There is no better time to experience all of the wonderful music that Memphis has to offer than during the summer season. Even though the summer is already halfway through, there are still plenty of talented acts to see coming to Memphis during the rest of July. Shinedown (July 20)

Shinedown is teaming up with fellow rock performers Halestorm and Black Stone Cherry to bring modern day rock music to the city of classic Rock’n’Roll!

MercyMe (July 29)

Don’t miss your chance to catch one of the world’s most famous and talented Christian bands in concert this summer when they stop by Memphis during their tour around the country.

Billy Currington (July 29)

Billy Currington will also be stopping by Memphis on July 29 as part of the Live at the Garden Summer Concert Series, located at the Memphis Botanic Gardens.

The Charlie Daniels Band (July 29)

The Devil may have gone down to Georgia, but the Charlie Daniels Band will make their way down to Memphis to entertain audiences with plenty of wild fiddle-based fun!
