Porsche is known for its performance cars that are typically heavy on gas consumption. But now, Porsche is playing with a balance between economy and performance for road-ready, fuel-efficient vehicles.
The new Porsche Macan premiered at the New York Auto Show and hinted at the future of Porsche. The four-cylinder engine is unlike many of Porsche’s V6 and V8-equipped cars – but for a good reason.
“You have to adapt,” Klaus Zellmer, president of Porsche North America said, “At the moment, that means it’s a lot about hybrids.”
Though the Macan has a four-cylinder engine, its performance is still top-notch. The SUV has a progressive acceleration for its class, going from 0 to 60 in 6.1 seconds.
You get a luxury Porsche package with the new Macan while saving money on gas. The Macan will have S, GTS, and Turbo versions. The 248-horsepower four-cylinder version brings an impressive 25 combined mpg to optimize performance and economy.
The new Macan is expected to be released in July. If you want the classic power of a Porsche while still getting good fuel efficiency, keep an eye out for the Macan and future fuel-efficient Porsche vehicles.
As if the Macan couldn’t get any cooler, Porsche has decided to honor the Macan line with a GTS badge for 2017. Striking aesthetic enhancements and thrilling performance enhancements ensue, all dressed in a compelling red and black.
In the performance department, the 2017 Porsche Macan GTS sees tweaks on all levels. For braking, the Macan GTS will feature large 360 mm rotors up front and in the rear with red calipers adding a dash of color behind the black, alloy wheels. Air suspension is a standard feature on the Macan GTS and ride height is lowered 10-millimeter reduction to improve center of gravity.
Under the hood, the 2017 Porsche Macan GTS uses the same powertrain as the Macan S. It’s a powerful six-cylinder with two turbochargers. With all of the unique enhancements for the GTS, output is measured at 360 horsepower and 369 lb-ft for torque. Add the available Sport Chrono Package and the all-new 2017 Porsche Macan GTS will take you from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds.
For the third consecutive year, Porsche topped the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study after receiving rave reviews from consumers within the first 90 days of owning their Porsche. In total, six Porsche models received honors, placing within the top three of their respective segments.
The Porsche 911 ranked highest in the Midsize Sporty Car segment for the fourth year in a row, proving its dominance and superior quality. In addition, the brand new Porsche Macan took first in the Compact Premium SUV segment while the Boxter and Cayman took the first two spots in the Compact Premium Sport Car segment. Rounding out the Porsche awards were the Cayenne and Panamera, which both received third place in the Midsize Premium SUV and Large Premium Car segments.
Matthias Muller, Chairman and Executive Board of Dr. Ing. h.c. Porsche AG, said, “We see these awards as confirmation of our strategy for high quality standards in design, development and production and in continuously offering Porsche customers a unique purchase and ownership experience.”
