Take a Peek at the All-New VW Atlas

For the 2018 model year, Volkswagen is introducing a new SUV model called the Atlas. The all-new VW Atlas is large and in charge in an All-American way, as families will love its roomy interior, comfortable ride, strong engine, and great interior features. At least at first, all Atlas models will be powered by a 3.6-liter V6 rated at 276 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive will come standard, but 4Motion® all-wheel-drive will be available on all trims. Later in the model year, VW will add an available turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The Atlas has a host of available advanced safety features, including forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking. These features come standard on the SE (with the Tech package), SEL, and SEL Premium models. With these features and more, it earned a 2017 Top Safety Pick rating from the … Continued

2018 Volkswagen Atlas Review

Volkswagen is turning its eye towards the American automotive market, where larger SUVs are selling like hotcakes. The European brand has long chosen to develop premium mid-size vehicles, but it’s changing course with the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas—a full-size three-row SUV designed for American families. “After spending a few weeks with our own 2018 Atlas, it’s clear VW built an ultra-functional, family-friendly three-row SUV,” Consumer Reports said in their review. Unlike many full-size SUVs, the Volkswagen Atlas offers a comfortable, firm ride on paved roadways. The standard all-wheel drive configuration offers responsive handling. The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas features a 3.6-liter V6 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. That smooth-shifting powertrain delivers a hearty 276 hp. Later this year, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine will offer 235 hp and improved efficiency. The Volkswagen Atlas features sharp exterior styling that sets it apart from its closest … Continued

New Volkswagen Warranty Sweetens the Deal on Upcoming SUVs

As if the upcoming release of the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan and 2018 Volkswagen Atlas—an all-new model—wasn’t enough cause for excitement, VW just announced that these SUVs will come with a new Volkswagen warranty. It’s an exciting prospect to say the least, as this new warranty is better than most competitor’s offers.   Pick up the latest Tiguan or all-new Atlas and enjoy a 6-year, 72,000-mile warranty. This is “bumper to bumper” coverage, meaning it covers engine and transmission repairs as well as issues arising with the all-wheel drive system. To make the deal a whole lot sweeter, the new Volkswagen warranty is also transferable. With that, VW has increased the resale value for both of these SUVs.   Warranties may not be flashy, but they matter. Over time, they amount to a lowered cost of ownership. Calculate that into the asking price and you’ll … Continued

Volkswagen LEGO Journey Display Shown at Chicago Auto Show

As part of its display at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show in February, Volkswagen assembled a 20,000-piece LEGO journey display that demonstrated the evolution of Volkswagen design throughout the years in honor of the 2018 VW Atlas, the brand’s all-new full-size SUV. The display featured both the new Atlas and the classic VW Microbus, showing the similarities and differences in design over the multi-decade gap. The display was set against a backdrop of a city setting, which transitioned to the great outdoors to show the versatility and “go-anywhere spirit” of the Volkswagen brand. The LEGO Atlas model was made of white LEGO bricks and features front and rear Volkswagen badging as well as black rims, roof rails, a trailer hitch, and a distinctive grille. What’s more, the model also highlights the utility of the Atlas’ seven-passenger seating. The Microbus was lovingly crafted from blue … Continued

Meet Atlas: New Midsize Crossover Volkswagen Revealed

While many automakers in the US market have been taking advantage of the trend toward SUVs and crossovers, Volkswagen’s SUV lineup has been surprisingly lacking. The one nameplate currently under the brand’s belt is the Tiguan. However, we saw hints of a new midsize crossover from VW at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and now the vehicle is finally seeing the light of day under the name “Atlas.” The Volkswagen Atlas has been hinted at for awhile, with VW CEO Hinrich Woebecken revealing earlier in 2016 that the crossover would have a simple, more easy-to-pronounce name for the American market. With its sharp, two-syllable name, “Atlas” appears to have fulfilled that promise. Information on pricing has not yet been unveiled, but production will begin sometime late this year, following by its sales launch in early 2017. This new midsize crossover Volkswagen is clearly designed … Continued
