A True Speed Wagon: The Performance Specs of the 2018 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo

You can say that the upcoming 2018 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is a wagon, and you’d be right—it certainly falls into that category. However, anything that Porsche does has a tendency to defy preconceived notions. The Panamera Sport Turismo is no different.

The first remarkable quality that anyone is bound to notice is the classy and sleek exterior of the new model. Most wagons come off at least a little boxy—that is, if they come off looking like a barn on four wheels. Nothing could be further from the truth with the Panamera Sport Turismo. There’s the attractive fastback rear design completed by a cool rear spoiler. It’s about aesthetics, but the sporty profile also has a profound purpose: aerodynamics.

Effectively cutting through the air would be important to a wagon like the Panamera Sport Turismo. The performance specs of the 2018 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo speak for themselves. You don’t want anything holding it back when it’s powered by a refined 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine, good for getting you from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 5 seconds. If that seems like too long, you’ve got options. The top-end 4.0-liter V8 option makes 550 horsepower and ups your 0 to 60 mph time to 3.4 seconds.

Of course, we shouldn’t forget that the Panamera Sport Turismo is indeed a wagon. The rear bench comfortably seats three with 18.4 cubic feet of cargo space to spare. Come and see this one-of-a-kind wagon for yourself when it arrives at Gossett VW Porsche!

Meet Atlas: New Midsize Crossover Volkswagen Revealed

While many automakers in the US market have been taking advantage of the trend toward SUVs and crossovers, Volkswagen’s SUV lineup has been surprisingly lacking. The one nameplate currently under the brand’s belt is the Tiguan. However, we saw hints of a new midsize crossover from VW at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and now the vehicle is finally seeing the light of day under the name “Atlas.”

The Volkswagen Atlas has been hinted at for awhile, with VW CEO Hinrich Woebecken revealing earlier in 2016 that the crossover would have a simple, more easy-to-pronounce name for the American market. With its sharp, two-syllable name, “Atlas” appears to have fulfilled that promise.

Information on pricing has not yet been unveiled, but production will begin sometime late this year, following by its sales launch in early 2017.

This new midsize crossover Volkswagen is clearly designed to appeal to American consumers, and the strategic release of the Atlas comes at a time when VW sales are lower than usual. If priced competitively, the Volkswagen Atlas could help the brand pull ahead in the market once again and invite a whole new demographic of young families looking for stylish but practical vehicles.
