The Porsche 911 is one of the most iconic cars out there. Its unmistakable, sexy silhouette paired with its race-track-inspired performance has made it a favorite throughout the decades. Today’s Porsche lineup features 21 versions of the Porsche 911. While they may seem the same at first glance, each version has its own idiosyncrasies that make it easy to invest in a stylish, modern 911 that’s just what you’re looking for.
Take a look at the Carrera, for instance, which is the base Porsche 911. It’s equipped with a 3.0-liter, 370-horsepower, twin-turbocharged engine. A convertible version, dubbed the Cabriolet, is available for those that like to feel the wind in their hair. There are variants of each of these that have four-wheel drive, as well, known as the Carrera 4 Coupe and the Carrera 4 Cabriolet, respectively.
As you move up the Porsche 911 lineup, you’ll find a similar arrangement with increasingly strong engines. Each engine finds a home in a coupe and convertible version, plus a rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive version of each. Targa models features an electric lift-away roof, and there’s even the 911R, a lightweight, 500-horsepower special edition.
We’re pretty convinced that no matter which Porsche 911 you go with, you’ll be satisfied with its performance and its iconic style. Visit us at Gossett VW Porsche today to start browsing our stunning lineup of the many versions of the Porsche 911.
Ever wanted a virtual assistant in your car that you could talk to and it would just do whatever you wanted, up to and including buying stuff for you through your Amazon account? Thanks to automakers like Volkswagen, that’s becoming a reality. Ford, VW, and Hyundai are all in talks with Amazon to bring the Amazon Alexa system into their vehicle lineups, which would allow users to sync up their Amazon accounts to their in-car infotainment systems.
Volkswagen has announced no official release date on the service, but Alexa will work together with the brand’s Car-Net system, which has provided vehicle status updates, smartphone connectivity, and other services since it was integrated into Volkswagen models in 2013. Using Alexa, VW drivers will be able to unlock or find their vehicle from a distance, check fuel levels, and even add destinations to the navigation system. And perhaps most interesting of all is the ability to sync up your Amazon account for instant access to all the goodies you could ever want from the driver’s seat.
The ability to use the Amazon Alexa system together with your Car-Net account poses an interesting capability, especially for people who like to DIY their own vehicle repairs; it gives drivers to chance to buy car parts or fluids the moment a warning light or alert comes up on their dashboard. If that’s not convenience, I don’t know what is.
The event featured a two-day tournament between the players and included Andy Roddick and Michael Chang, both of whom came out of retirement briefly to participate. Sharapova wanted to get players ready for the Australian Open in a more serious exhibition match than usual.
Porsche officials expressed excitement at the partnership with Sharapova for the event, saying the “power and elegance” of the sport and of Sharapova herself are “the exact characteristics that are conveyed in our sports cars.”
The 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera was present at the tournament, highlighting the connection to sportiness and athleticism the brand aims for. The 2017 Carrera is more powerful than ever, with an even higher horsepower than previous models, bringing it up to 370 hp.
