The Porsche World Expedition, a journey like no other, is underway. The expedition spans six continents, lasts 80 days, and allows participants to explore the world from the driver’s seat of the new Porsche Cayenne S. The expedition kicked off in Australia on May 11 with a group of 20 participants setting out to explore the Outback. This once-in-a-lifetime journey begins at Australia’s east coast and ventures across the outback to Perth.
The Porsche Cayenne S is prepared to handle such an adventure: it comes equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers a whopping 440 horsepower. It also comes with the Porsche Traction Management active all-wheel drive system, allowing you to feel confident and in control as you traverse any terrain. This system will be particularly useful while driving in the Australian Outback, as participants traverse desert landscapes and dirt roads, driving through the Simpson Desert, the Red Center, and the Great Central Road to Perth.
The Porsche World Expedition will explore Africa, Europe, South East Asia, Central America, and South America. With the power and capability of the Porsche Cayenne S, participants will experience the world like never before, all while sitting within a luxurious, comfortable, and smart interior.
The Porsche Cayenne S is just one of the many powerful and prestigious Porsches in stock at Gossett VW Porsche. Schedule your test drive and you will understand why Porsche is the first name in high-performance luxury automotive.
There’s tons of reasons to love Porsche vehicles. Style, luxury, and power. Plenty of power. The Porsche Cayenne proved all of this when it recently scored a Guinness World Record for towing an airplane.
The Cayenne not only towed an airplane—it towed a jumbo jet. While the Cayenne’s max towing capacity is listed as 7,700 pounds, you can bet that a jumbo jet weighs significantly more than that. In fact, at 314 tons, the Airbus A380 that was towed was about 82 times the Cayenne’s max towing amount.
The amazing feat took place at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, where crews hooked up the airplane to the Cayenne just as they would a trailer. The Cayenne’s strength took it from there – pulling the double-decker plane 140 feet across the tarmac. That’s the heaviest aircraft to ever be pulled by a production car!
“Our cars can go a bit beyond what our customers might expect,” said Porsche GB technician Richard Payne. What an understatement!
For the third consecutive year, Porsche topped the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study after receiving rave reviews from consumers within the first 90 days of owning their Porsche. In total, six Porsche models received honors, placing within the top three of their respective segments.
The Porsche 911 ranked highest in the Midsize Sporty Car segment for the fourth year in a row, proving its dominance and superior quality. In addition, the brand new Porsche Macan took first in the Compact Premium SUV segment while the Boxter and Cayman took the first two spots in the Compact Premium Sport Car segment. Rounding out the Porsche awards were the Cayenne and Panamera, which both received third place in the Midsize Premium SUV and Large Premium Car segments.
Matthias Muller, Chairman and Executive Board of Dr. Ing. h.c. Porsche AG, said, “We see these awards as confirmation of our strategy for high quality standards in design, development and production and in continuously offering Porsche customers a unique purchase and ownership experience.”
